looking back:

Looking back, I am very proud of the drawings I have made. Recently, I started to draw two young kids, but then I realized that it would be more fun to draw people I know. So, I have two unfinished projects that I do not plan on finishing. This is a picture of me drawing a young girl:

looking forward:

Looking forward, I want to continue drawing faces and exploring how to portray emotions. I think it would be really cool to put together a lot of faces that show different emotions. I am going to finish the sketch of my parents and I want to continue working on the colorful lion I was painting.

Takeaways:

I really enjoy drawing people that I know: Friends and family. I also like to paint with color because all of my sketches are black and white, which gets boring sometimes.

Mark Bradford made art from his life experiences and childhood and I think that makes his painting more meaningful to him and others. He talked about how he wanted it to seem like people were inside and outside. I’ve been wanting to create art that is “meaningful”, and I was thinking about making something that would spread a message. He inspired me that I do not need to make a piece that has a random meaning but if I make it based on how I feel and my life, it could be a lot deeper.

Double block 1/11

  • I would like to improve on painting more precisely and washing the brush before I use another color. I have been painting sunset-like paintings, that include many colors which fade into each other, and I want to improve on blending colors so that the painting looks realistic. In order to do this, I will slow down when I am painting and change the water so that it stays relatively clear.
  • I have been inspired by another painting/drawing every time I paint/draw, and I want to explore creating my own piece of art instead of following someone else’s. I will do this by thinking of landscapes or looking at people when I paint and draw, and creating the art on my own.

Looking back, I am really proud of the two drawings I have made in the past week. I drew Billie Eilish and that was the first time I drew a face with shading and a lot of details to make it look really realistic. Yesterday, I started drawing a young girl and I can already tell that I am improving. I also started painting a beach scene which is something that I have done before and enjoyed doing.

Looking forward: I want to continue drawing people and painting landscapes because I think that I have a lot of potential to improve.

Takeaways: I really enjoy drawing people and painting sunsets. Here is a drawing of a girl that I am working on:

The Double Block

Takeaways from Workbook: I really enjoyed drawing and painting, and I discovered that after I finished my workbook. Next week I want to continue drawing, but I am also interested in photography. I do not have a lot of experience with photography but I am excited to practice because I have a camera I can use at home to experiment.

Today I continued to draw a portrait of Billie Eilish, and I learned how to draw hair. I practiced shading her face and adding details to her shirt. Her eyes are the most important part because they show her emotion so I need to make sure that I draw them correctly

Takeaways from Workbook

Feedback: My workbook presentation.

  • The scull I drew was realistic and she was surprised that I did it in 2o minutes
  • I should add more to my box

I agree that I could have added more to my box, but I was more interested in my drawings and paintings, so I did not spend much time on the box. When I get back from break I think I will add more to my watercolor painting to make it darker and more layered. I really like watercolor painting and drawing, so after break, I think I will start a project that incorporates painting or drawing.

Blog post #4

Looking back: I made a collage from a bunch of magazines with Emma, I made an infographic about skiing, I painted a painting of the ocean and the sunset with watercolors, I made a box out of a record case and I made a field hockey logo. Next week, I need to start and finish a “follow my rules” project. I think I am going to make a drawing or a painting for that. I also need to finish my workbook presentation. One of my takeaways from this week is that I really enjoy watercolor painting, and vintage looking things, like the record. This is my skiing infographic:

Critique Summary

  1. What can I add to my watercolor painting?  Make sure that I wait to paint the boat until I have finished the back round. I will wait to paint the objects in the ocean because they need to appear like they are in front of the sunset.
  2. What else can I include in my infographic? Include a back round…  maybe mountians. I am not going to include a background because I want to keep the infographic as simple as possible.
  3. What should I do for my process for my field hockey logo? A team photo. I will use a team photo because I think that it represents my thought process behind my logo.

week 2

Looking back:

  • Make a collage
  • Made a logo
  • Started a painting

Looking ahead:

  • Continue doing the workbook
  • Continue painting the ocean/sunset
  • Plan my time
  • Make an infographic on something I am interested in

Takeaways:

I really like watercolors, and I do not really like collaging if I do not have a theme to follow

Bob Ross:

Bob Ross was a very positive painter and television host. He was born in Florida and was in the US Air Force. He also used a wet on wet oil painting technique, which means he would paint over wet paint. He made a show, “The joy of painting”, and he said, ” It’s because I can create the kind of world that I want, and I can make this world as happy as I want it. Shoot, if you want bad stuff, watch the news”.
