The piece by Jackson Danforth is a drawing of Jay Z. It is very detailed and realistic, and it portrays demension by showing a reflection in his sunglasses.
It made me think about the skill and practice it takes to become that talented of an artist. He did not have a line outlining the face, which is realistic because people do not have lines outlining their face, but most people tend to draw them anyway.
After reading the artist statement and bio I made more connections about why artists choose to make art. He explained that he draws to give back to the artists that he has been inspired by, which I find is an interesting form of motivation. He used many different shades of black and white, which is a tactic I can take when I draw too.
